Hello, this is Ryugaku JP.
In 2023, our blog was attacked by hackers, forcing us to completely redesign the EJB website.
Our company was originally founded in November 2001 for the purpose of Internet-related business, and in that vein, we have continued to operate a website with our own original design. However, the lack of WordPress updates was a major cause of the damage.
We are currently in the process of gradually migrating content from the old site while utilizing the Internet Archive. However, we anticipate that it will take a couple of years to get back to the pre-Corona access numbers of around 2019.

Background of Company Name Change
While sorting through old articles, I noticed again that our company was founded on November 30, 2001 as "Agent Ltd." and later changed its name to the current "Study Abroad JP Inc." on January 1, 2018.
At that time, the business related to study abroad in the Philippines was growing rapidly, and we changed our name to the current one in order to more clearly place "study abroad" at the core of our business.
Changes brought about by the pandemic
From March 2020 to July 2022, the study abroad business in the Philippines was forced to shut down for as long as two years and three months, dealing an unprecedented blow to the entire study abroad industry. And now, the landscape of the industry has changed dramatically, both before and after the pandemic.
When I recently attended a "Study Abroad Fair" hosted by a certain study abroad agent, I had the opportunity to hear the real voices of people who are considering studying abroad. It was impressive to see not only the increasing participation of middle and high school students, but also the growing interest of middle-aged and older people.
Through these opportunities, I began to rethink about "what study abroad is" and "what study abroad will be like in the future," which were the reasons for the company name "Ryugaku JP.
What is Study Abroad?
The term "online study abroad" also appeared during the pandemic, but Wikipedia defines "study abroad" as "to reside (e.g., homestay) in a country other than one's own and learn academic or technical skills. In light of this definition, "online study abroad" may not mean what it originally meant.
Recently, study abroad for the purpose of academic and technical studies, especially by athletes, has become more conspicuous. For example, athletes such as Sasaki, who went on to Stanford University, are increasingly studying abroad through sports. We are also seeing an increase in opportunities to support athletes in their study abroad programs in the Philippines.
In other words, the essence of study abroad is becoming more than just "English study abroad"; it is becoming about learning in a variety of forms, such as local volunteer experience and interaction with university students.
What you will gain from studying abroad
I have two daughters, both of whom first studied in Singapore, and their first real "English study abroad" was in the Philippines. After that, they studied in Europe and the U.S., and now they are working in jobs that utilize English.
Studying abroad is a valuable opportunity to develop not only language skills, but also perspective and human skills through the experience of adapting to a different culture. Having studied abroad myself, I feel that my study abroad experience has fostered not only my English communication skills, but also my cross-cultural understanding and ability to be flexible.
